A number of extremely important historical and natural features can be found
in the land around Goro. In 1981, in fact, the eastern part of the Bay
(i.e. the Gorino Valleys) was listed as a wetland of international
importance by the Convention of Ramsar (1971).
In 1988, the Goro area was inserted in the n.1 resort station
(known as the "Volano-Mesola-Goro" station) of the Regional Park of the Po
Delta. Towards the centre of the Bay is the turn-off for Preparco, the western
area (close to the Mesola Wood), and the eastern area (Gorino Valleys); these
all fall under general protection Zone B, as does the river's Po of Goro
stretch. The Scannone sandbank on the other hand has been designated a State
Nature Reserve. The settlements and main sites are analysed separately.
